About our Principal

Dr. Gummadi Samuel Moses has been working as Principal, Government Degree College, Mandapeta, East Godavari District from 10.10.2012. He earned his B.Sc Degree (1978) from Andhra University, M.Sc Organic Chemistry (1980) from Meerut University U.P, M.Phil in Organic Chemistry (1981) from University of Madras and Ph.D in Chemistry (1995) as teacher candidate from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal of National repute under the guidance of Prof. A Ramachandraiah. He also did PG Diploma in Environmental Education and Management(1997) from central University of Hyderabad.

He has worked as Lecturer and Reader from 04.03.1984 to 11.08.2008 in various Govt Degree Colleges, mostly in Government College (A), Rajahmundry and having about 24 years of teaching experience for the Graduate and Post-Graduate students in Organic Chemistry. He got promoted and joined as Principal in Govt Degree College, Chintalapudi, West Godavari District on 12.08.2008 and worked till 3.02.2010 for about one year six months. Later, he got transferred to 160 year old prestigious institution Government College (A), Rajahmundry as Principal where he worked from 03.02.2010 to 9.10.2012 for about two years eight months and he is instrumental in getting NAAC A Grade for the college in November 2011.

He has worked as Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education on full additional charge (FAC) for two years two months from 01.09.2011 to 28.12.2013.

Academic and Research Achievements

He taught M Sc Organic Chemistry in Government College (A), Rajahmundry E.G.Dt for about 24 years and many of his students settled down as scientists, university teachers and in administrative posts in India and abroad. As principal investigator under his guidance three students have received Ph D Degrees in Chemistry from Andhra University and JNTU, Hyderabad. And also 5 students were awarded M.Phil degrees in chemistry under his guidance. 



He has published 22 research papers in Chemistry to his credit in reputed national and international journals with good impact factor. He has attended 38 national and international conferences and presented papers and conducted many national seminars as Reader in Chemistry and Principal.

He has attended 5 UGC Refresher Courses/Summer Schools.
He has published about 53 popular articles on Environmental Protection and Pollution published in print media.
As a college teacher in Chemistry he has carried out two UGC Minor Research Projects titled “Electro Chemical Studies” (1990-1992) and “River Pollution(2004-2006).

Life membership in Professional Bodies

He has life-membership in 5 scientific societies and professional bodies namely
Fellow of Indian Society, Calcutta,
Fellow of Indian Council of Chemistry, Agra,
Indian Society of Technical Education, New Delhi,
Chemistry Research Society of India, IISC, Bangalore,
Environment Research Academy, Visakhapatnam.

He was a Board of Research Director in American Biographical Institute (1995) North Carolina,(USA).
Additional Responsibilities and other Contributions
During his career as Lecturer and Reader in Govt College(A), Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, he has carried out many additional responsibilities along with his teaching in Chemistry.
He has worked as NSS Programme Officer, NCC Officer, College Public Relation Officer, Trained State Government AIDS Nodal Officer, Convenor for Clean and Green programmes, College Academic Coordinator and AP National Green Corps Eco Club Coordinator.
He acted as a founder course Coordinator for some time in 2006 in the initial stages of Adikavi Nannayya University, Rajahmundry.
His contribution to Government college Autonomous as a teacher and principal about 28 years is highly appreciated from Government as well as public. He acted as a NAAC Coordinator in 2004 and helped Government(Autonomous) College Rajahmundry to get the NAAC A grade. Again as Principal of the same College in November 2011, he is instrumental in achieving NAAC A grade for the second time.

Awards and Honours

For teachers in colleges and Universities State Best Teacher Award is just like a Noble Prize to the scientific community. He was honoured by the state government of Andhra Pradesh with the State Best Teacher Award in the year 2000 at the age of 40 for his excellence in his teaching, research and several significant contributions to student community.
He received Gold Record for Achievement from American Biographical Society, North Carolina, USA in 1996.
He was honoured with National Chemistry Best Teacher Award in 2011 by Chemistry Research Society of Indian, Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore.
He received outstanding young personality town from JAYCEES of Rajahmundry in the year 1998.
He received best services award from the Collector of East Godavari in 2012 for his committed service as Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education.
He also received appreciation award from Commissioner of Collegiate Education, Hyderabad, AP, for best services as Principal and Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education in the year 2012.
Under the aegis of Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, Hyderabad, AP he received best Principal award for East Godavari District Government Colleges continuously for the years 2012 and 2013.
